Current Favorite Skincare Products | Combination & Sensitive Skin
Thursday, July 30, 2015
Over the past year or so I’ve really started to focus more and more on my skin and it’s overall health and appearance. Through my late teens, I knew my skin was super sensitive to most new products I was trying, but I was not even beginning to attempt to fix the problem. I was basically just dealing with the fact that I had mediocre skin and that was just that.
It wasn’t until I really indulged myself into the beauty community, both in blogs and through YouTube, that I realized how important it is to take care of your skin and that… wait for it… I, too, can have beautiful, glowing skin if I tried hard enough.
This last week has been a breakthrough. I’m going to show you my favorite products at the moment and they coincidentally are my entire skincare routine, too!
Makeup Removal
I’ll admit - I was never a fan of cleansing oils to remove my makeup. There. I said it. The thing is, I was doing it completely wrong! I would take the cleansing oil to my dry face and work it into my skin to make sure that all of my makeup was being removed. I would then rinse, then use a gentle cleanser to wash my face. That’s it. I noticed that after I used the oil, I would have a new breakout the next day. I knew it was from this product. Once I started using my Clarisonic (more on that later), I noticed quickly that I was no longer breaking out, and it was because I was fully removing the oil with the Clarisonic, rather than leaving traces of it on my skin! The Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil claims to remove makeup gently while leaving you with a cooling effect. I definitely don’t feel the cooling properties, but it does a great job at removing any traces of makeup from my skin.
I just recently picked up my Clarisonic Mia 2 during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (still on sale guys!!!). I had always wanted one but didn’t want to spring the cash, honestly. I love mine - it’s a beautiful bright floral print. The Clarisonic has absolutely changed the texture and evenness in my skin. I started noticing a difference only three days after I started using it. I only use my Clarisonic once a day, at night.
I love to use my Clarisonic with the Olay Regenerist Luminous Brightening Cream Cleanser that I picked up at Target. I was out of my Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser and wanted to try something from the drugstore that was a cream consistency. I’ve always had luck with cream cleansers. (One of my personal favs is the Neutrogena Redness Soothing Cream Cleanser) I picked up this Olay one because I’d never heard of the line before and thought I’d give it a try. First of all, it has a light, delicious scent of vanilla. It. Is. Amazing. I love the way it leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized.

Eye Cream
I guess while I’m being honest here, I should also admit that I rarely - and I mean rarely - use eye cream. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I don’t always see an immediate difference in my skin or makeup when I use it? I do want to become more consistent with it, though. Do you have any favorite eye creams that have changed your life?! Very interested in hearing any recommendations.
Facial Serum
I received a small sample of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair facial serum from a Sephora order about 4 weeks ago and I am very happy with it. I just used up my last drop of the stuff, and it was nice. Will I repurchase this? Not sure. Stay tuned for an upcoming empties where I’ll talk about it in more detail.
My favorite personal favorite is the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. This mask is thiiiiick. But it smells like citrus and deliciousness. I use this mask about twice a week, especially after I’ve done a heavy exfoliation. This mask goes on a bit sticky, but when you wake up you’ll mistake your face for a baby’s bottom. No lie.
Moisturizer
I have used the Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin for years. I really just love the lightweight consistency and the fact that it sinks into the skin quickly. It leaves my skin feeling so comfortable. It is the absolute first step once I get out of the shower! I did try the SPF 15 version of the same moisturizer and didn’t like it as much. I think once I’m finished with this bottle, I’m going to try the new moisture surge moisturizer by Neutrogena that is being advertised everywhere!
I hope you check out some of my favorite products - they are tried, true, and they make washing my face a fun experience, not something I dread!
